Sofa Talks: IA - past, present & future

For members of Moldovan communities abroad, IA is often associated with roots, traditions, femininity, longing, authenticity, friends and home. IA's Universal Day was celebrated for the first time on June 24, 2013, during Sânziene holiday, an initiative of the La Blouse Roumaine community. In these nine years, IA Day has become a true global event, being celebrated on six continents in over 60 countries, 130 localities and 200 events. It contributed decisively to the repositioning of the Romanian traditional culture.


On June 24, the Universal Day of IA, will take place on the virtual sofa "Sofa Talks" where we will discuss with leaders of associations in the diaspora about IA and how this piece of clothing has become a country brand.

The Diaspora Relations Office (BRD) of the State Chancellery extends the deadline for the DIASPORA ENGAGEMENT HUB (DEH) Program for the Subprogram:

 

• PROFESSIONAL RETURN OF THE DIASPORE - the goal is to capitalize on the human capital and professional experience of skilled migrants through the transfer of technologies, skills and contacts obtained abroad, for the economic, social and cultural development of the Republic of Moldova. Grants of up to 40,000 MDL will be offered for this category.

Deadline for submission of final reporting for all subprogrammes - 15 November 2022.

 

Deadline for submission of files: June 16, 2022, 23:59.

Italian in love with the Republic of Moldova visiting the Diaspora Relations Office

During the visit to the Diaspora Relations Office, Mr. Gian Luca del Marco, President of the Moldova-Italy Volunteer Association. The dialogue focused on the activity he carries out both in Italy and in Moldova, the Italian who speaks Romanian fluently. For 20 years Gian Luca del Marco has been promoting the Republic of Moldova in his home country - Italy, organizing exhibitions, cultural events and even contributing to the translation of books from Romanian into Italian. The guest expressed his respect and admiration for the culture of our country, but also the desire to make it as well known abroad as possible - this becoming a priority from the first day he discovered Moldova and its charm.

Two years ago, Gian Luca del Marco was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Causeni", the place where he is currently located and the Moldovan headquarters of the association he represents and where in collaboration with several local institutions he organized many events, the last being dedicated to International Children's Day. And recently the association contributed to the donation of an ambulance for the "Ana and Alexandru" District Hospital in Causeni. The donations collected by the voluntary association "Moldova-Italy", intended for the management of the Ukrainian refugee crisis, also arrived in Causeni.

Nadejda Zubco, head of the Diaspora Relations Office, thanked the guest for her interest in the culture and traditions of our country, but also for her involvement in volunteer and charity projects aimed at the Republic of Moldova. In the same vein, the head of BRD invited Gian Luca del Marco to register on the eMoldovaTa.gov.md platform and spoke to him about the Programs implemented by the Bureau, specifying that the voluntary association "Moldova-Italy" is eligible to apply to the “Diaspora Engagement Hub” Program, to implement cultural and educational projects, meant to highlight our country. Nadejda Zubco also expressed her openness to promote the magazine "Eureka", which the voluntary association "Moldova-Italy" publishes in collaboration with educational institutions in different countries, connecting young people and thus promoting the values ​​of the country they come from. these.

Mr Gian Luca del Marco presented the Office for Relations with the Diaspora with a book which he edited in memory of the man of culture Nicolae Dabija, specifying that the association he represents contributed to the translation into Italian of the novel "Homework" , signed by the late writer.

„Thermal Insulation of the Specialized Sports School of Olympic Reserves in the city of Călărași” - another successful achievement obtained within the Program “Diaspora Home Succeeds / BUT 1 + 3”, 2021 edition

Towards the end of May, at the Specialized Sports School of Olympic Reserves in the city of Călărași, the XXXIX edition of the Călărași International Cup Tournament took place, which brought together about 270 young athletes in 32 categories. On this occasion, the project "Thermal Insulation of the Specialized Sports School of Olympic Reserves in the city of Călărași" was inaugurated, implemented within the Program "Diaspora Home Succeeds / BUT 1 + 3", 2021 edition.

Please note that the institution is attended by 120 disciples of different ages. Over time, it has provided the country with generations of high-performance athletes, national, European and world champions, and according to local authorities, the school building was never thermally insulated and the exterior walls were in a deplorable condition, being damaged. renovated. According to the project, following the works, the energy consumption used to heat the institution was reduced, namely by thermal insulation of the exterior walls and floor. Natural gas consumption has also been reduced by about 30% annually. The most important thing is that the 120 children and young people benefit from better training conditions.

Present at the event Diana Cucoș and Marina Bunduchi, main consultants of the Diaspora Relations Office, congratulated and wished the team of the Local Public Authority, the natives, the diaspora representatives, for their mobilization, coordination and for the successful achievement of the objective proposed in the Program. "The Home Diaspora Succeeds BUT 1 + 3".

The project "Thermal Insulation of the Specialized Sports School of Olympic Reserves in the city of Calarasi" is a successful collaboration between LPA, the association of natives, diaspora and last but not least - the Government of the Republic of Moldova. It is noteworthy that most members of the diaspora who contributed to the project of Thermal Insulation of the Specialized Sports School of Olympic Reserves in Calarasi, are former disciples of the institution, some of them having children as students of this school.

Working meeting with leaders of diaspora associations and initiative groups, organized by the Diaspora Relations Bureau

The Diaspora Relations Bureau held a working meeting on May 19 with leaders of diaspora associations and initiative groups. The event took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and each participant had the opportunity to present and ask the BRD team the questions them concerned. 

 

Nadejda Zubco, Head of the Diaspora Relations Bureau, spoke about the Diaspora Engagement Hub Program, for which some of the compatriots present at the meeting submitted their projects for the 4 eligible subprograms. Nadejda Zubco also encouraged the leaders of the associations to follow BRD news, but at the same time to inform the institution they represent about the events organized abroad, noting that in this way, the work of our compatriots and their involvement in cultural and activities of promotion of the country, can also become visible at home.

 

Also, Violina Donu, Deputy Head of the Diaspora Relations Bureau, presented the eMoldovaTa.gov.md platform, especially for Moldovan associations abroad. At the same time, Violina Donu thanked the leaders who managed to register and launch their own blog on eMolodvaTa.gov.md, this being an opportunity to highlight the activities and projects of the team represented by the presidents of associations and community leaders in the diaspora.

 

At the end of the meeting, participants exchanged information, presented their activity, discussed the plans they have for the next period, including the organization of Diaspora Days 2022. It was a heartfelt meeting during which diaspora compatriots shared their experience with the BRD team and came up with some suggestions that would facilitate and stimulate more citizens from abroad to apply to the Programs implemented by BRD. In particular, they came with the request to receive support for writing projects, expressing their desire to take a training course on this subject.

 

Nadejda Zubco, the head of BRD, thanked all the compatriots, who were receptive and showed interest in the organized event and in the constructive and interesting dialogue.

• INNOVATIVE DIASPORA PROJECTS - the aim is to stimulate and promote innovative diaspora initiatives that contribute to the economic, social and cultural development of the Republic of Moldova. Grants of up to 50,000 MDL will be offered for this category.

• SUBPROGRAM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE DIASPORA - the goal is to support the implementation and promotion of initiatives and ideas of young people (18-35 years) in the diaspora for economic, social and cultural development of the Republic of Moldova. Grants of up to 50,000 MDL will be offered for this category.

The implementation period of the activities for each project is from 2 weeks to 2 months.

Areas eligible for funding: education; health; culture and arts; business Administration; creative industry; information and communication technologies; urban and rural development; architecture and design; engineering; scientific research; social entrepreneurship; public administration; communication, journalism and public relations; participation of the diaspora in the decision-making process.

Eligible activities: campaigns, competitions, fairs, symposia, festivals, forums, seminars, trainings, round tables, exhibitions, debates, consultations, congresses, conferences, bilateral and multilateral exchanges, official meetings, website creation and networks communication, the production of radio and television programs, as well as other similar actions, the purchase of technical equipment (laptop, projector, etc.) from project sources is accepted only on condition that it is donated by donation contract to budgetary institutions.

Valeriu Turcanu, the interim director of the Epic Theater of Ethnography and Folklore "Ion Creanga" in Chisinau, visited the Diaspora Relations Office. The dialogue focused on aspects related to the role and purpose of a Popular Theater, but also details regarding the repertoire of the institution, which contains plays that promote the traditions and customs of our people, sitting, folklore magazines. Valeriu Țurcanu also mentioned the young people's interest in the shows "Mother-in-law with three daughters-in-law", by Ion Creangă or "Arvinte and Pepelea" by Vasile Alecsandri. On the other hand, the interim director of TEEF "Ion Creanga" stated that the actors in the team he represents are also available to the most sincere audience - children, for the little ones the show "Mother is the sun" is played, and the great desire is both of the band as well as of the man of culture Valeriu Țurcanu is to reach the hearts of the public with soul meetings and tours not only through the localities of the Republic of Moldova, but also abroad, in the countries where our compatriots are established.

And in order to implement the launched idea, the BRD chief proposed to Valeriu Țurcanu to participate in the events that the Bureau will organize this summer, in online format. In the same vein, Nadejda Zubco was interested in watching TEEF "Ion Creanga" shows to admire the actors' play and to penetrate the charm of an authentic popular show, which will happen in the near future.
