Sofa Talks: IA - past, present & future

For members of Moldovan communities abroad, IA is often associated with roots, traditions, femininity, longing, authenticity, friends and home. IA's Universal Day was celebrated for the first time on June 24, 2013, during Sânziene holiday, an initiative of the La Blouse Roumaine community. In these nine years, IA Day has become a true global event, being celebrated on six continents in over 60 countries, 130 localities and 200 events. It contributed decisively to the repositioning of the Romanian traditional culture.

On June 24, the Universal Day of IA, will take place on the virtual sofa "Sofa Talks" where we will discuss with leaders of associations in the diaspora about IA and how this piece of clothing has become a country brand.

The interlocutors at Sofa Talks are:
• Adriana Rotaru, leader of the "Sitting Brussels" community, Belgium
• Doina Guzun, president of the AIM association, France
• Dorina Baltag, founder of the Noroc Olanda association, Netherlands
• Nadejda Zubco, Head of the Diaspora Relations Bureau
• Mariana Plămădeală, founder of the R.U.D.A. association, Great Britain
• Iurie Răileanu, president of the Primo Passo association, Italy

The topics addressed will be:
• IA Day: history, traditions, trends
• “IA” file at UNESCO
• Symbolism - identity - branding
• How to differentiate authentic IA from traditional shirts
• The value and promotion of IA

The event will start at 18.00 and will end at 19.30, MD. Those wishing to join the interlocutors please enter the virtual room 10 minutes earlier by accessing the Zoom link here:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7332126279
