Văleni Village – The first SMART Village in Moldova
In Văleni, it was started the project "SMART Solutions for SMART communities", initiated and implemented by Eco-Village Văleni / AO Ecoscout by funding from the GEF Small Grants Program - UNDP, with the aim of transferring good practices from Romania (Alba Iulia Smart City) related to the SMART solutions to develop in Văleni the premises for the "First SMART Village in Moldova", using digital and renewable energy solutions in the development of tourism and local public infrastructure.
We believe that this is a perspective project that arouses interest and we hope it will be a good example for other localities in the Republic of Moldova. The person who is involved in the development and modernization process of the village of Văleni is the representative of our diaspora, Nicu Știrbeț, who previously applied to the Diaspora Engagement Hub program, launched by the Diaspora Relations Bureau and obtained funding to implement two projects in his native locality: "Development of eco-tourism in the Prut Meadow" (2016) and "ReDiscover the Prut Meadow" (2018), with the aim of developing sustainable tourism in the southern region of Moldova. The results are in line with expectations, and our appreciation is immediate to all those who contributed to the achievement of this goal.
