WORKSHOP "EUROPEAN VECTOR OF MIGRATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA: SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND DEMOGRAPHIC IMPACT"

The event was organized by the Academy of Economic Studies in the context of Europe Day in order to increase the level of information and awareness of decision makers, academia and science on migration from / to the Republic of Moldova in the context of its reorientation, mainly to the states of the European Union; stimulating the contribution of researchers, academics to the study of current migration trends and challenges at European level; stimulating academic and public debates on topics of common interest with regard to migration issues, in general, and European issues, in particular, etc.

The agenda of the event was diverse, so in the opening the Rector of ASEM, Alexandru Stratan, referred to the importance of promoting the cultural values ​​of the Republic of Moldova by citizens settled abroad, while mentioning the efforts of the Government of Moldova to support the diaspora. At the same time, Alexandru Stratan spoke about the Government Program for children and young people in the diaspora "Diaspora Origini Reveniri/DOR", which he considers unique and attractive.

Nadejda Zubco intrigued the audience with the information sent to the Diaspora Migration and Development - a common strategic goal. Also, the head of BRD answered the questions of the public, interested in the Office's Programs and especially in the "Diaspora Acasă Reușește / DAR 1 + 3" Program.

Of particular interest was the development of migration data collection systems for the development of evidence-based policies presented by Vitalie Varzari, ILO Moldova Project Assistant. And Tatiana Solonari, UNDP representative, referred to the role and purpose, but also to the creation of indigenous associations, as well as their involvement in local development projects - activities carried out with the support of the "Migration and Local Development" project.

Finally, Dorin Lozovanu, associate professor, representative of the diaspora, presented the study "Peculiarities of the Moldovan diaspora in the states of the European Union: present and perspectives."
